Short for Mass Data Analysis. A method for statistically aggregating and analyzing a large volume of real hand histories to understand the tendencies of the overall player pool and deviations from GTO.
A player classification used in MDA. In Poker Gnosis, players with at least 1,000 total played hands in the target data are defined as Reg, and players with fewer than 1,000 hands are defined as Rec. As a general tendency, total played hands and profit are correlated, and players with more hands are more likely to be profitable than players with fewer hands.
Short for Showdown. When two or more players remain after the final betting round, they reveal their hands, compare hand strength, and determine the winner.
Short for Equity. The probability that the current hand wins across all possible runouts if it checks down to showdown. It represents the hand's expected share of the pot.
Short for Expected Value. The average long-term profit or loss from repeating an action in the same situation. Consistently making positive-EV decisions is the source of profit.
Short for Minimum Defense Frequency. The minimum frequency at which you must continue against a bet by calling or raising so that the opponent's bluffs do not automatically profit. It is calculated as pot size / (pot size + bet size).
The ratio between the amount required to call and the total pot after calling. This ratio gives the minimum equity needed for a call to be profitable in the long run, and it is compared with your hand's EQ when choosing an action.
